  Myth Creation      Creating my first myth, "Tim: The First Accident", helped deepen my understanding of mythology from a more creative and personal aspect. When studying myths in past classes, we tend to focus on structure, symbolism, and meaning.  Focusing more on literary devices and how each story reflects a certain group's worldview. When making my own myth, I realized how important every choice and symbolic piece is to the story, especially based on our own emotional or philosophical impulses.  Writing the story forced me to try to explain why the world works in some way while creating new meanings. It allows us to try to answer life’s questions and curiosities, even ones often unanswered.  It reminds me a lot of different superstitions or old-wives tales in different cultures or communities that often give warnings or explanations for things in life     Through this process, I understood myths not just as old stories or fabl...

    Poetry Writing      Writing poetry and writing about poetry feel like two very different processes that require very separate mindsets; however, they are extremely beneficial to each other. When I write a poem, I’m usually centering my writing on a particular feeling, image, event, or rhythm. There are also many times I don’t know exactly where it’s going. Writing about poetry, on the other hand, makes me slow down and look closely at how the words, structure, and rhythm are working to create an intended meaning.  It allows me to delve deeper into the explication process, understanding how the words and structure of the poem come together to create deeper meanings. This then allows me to create better work of my own, as I pay more attention to the impact and meaning of every part of the poem, from the words to the spacing in the lines.       Doing both at the same time helps highlight how much writing and writing about poetry ...

 Introduction Hi, my name is Briana! I am from Los Angeles, California. I am pursuing a major in English Literature and a minor in Communications. I currently work at an elementary school, now in my fifth year, after working for multiple elementary and high schools. My interests include music, art, watching true crime, working with kids, sports, and spending time at the beach or outdoors.  A fun fact I always share is I’ve been shark cage diving. Media technology can both play a positive and negative role in teaching, regardless its presence is hers to stay. Positives of technology in teaching includes both individual benefits and larger societal advantages.
